Hiking Cole Mountain

We spent a beautiful spring Sunday on a six-mile hike through George Washington & Jefferson National Forest land, climbing to the 4,033-foot summit of Cole Mountain (also known as Cold Mountain) in Amherst County, VA. A expansive pasture-like saddle with 360ยบ panoramic views was the treat at the end. It’s really impossible to capture how big and amazing it is in a single photograph.
